Message from the Board of Directors
Our goal as a youth baseball and softball organization is to nurture children and young adults in their development both as athletes and as people. We provide a firm and supportive environment, which encourages learning while building self-confidence and self-esteem.
Since 2005, Nether Providence Baseball and Softball have been members of the national Cal Ripken / Babe Ruth League organization. We found our goals and philosophies were closely aligned with Babe Ruth and we could provide our children an opportunity to compete at various levels. As a Board, it is our goal to work with the coaches and parents to carry on the philosophies of Babe Ruth, as well as to implement some new perspectives for the future success of our program. These goals include:
- Ensuring every child is afforded the opportunity to play baseball or softball and have fun doing so.
- Promoting excellence in academics as well as athletics.
- Nurturing the character development of our youth.
- Providing our children with the opportunity to learn and grow, to realize their strengths and achieve their potential.
- Fostering a sense of community.
- Offering a wholesome opportunity for children to engage in group activities.
- Promoting self-esteem and self-confidence through the excellent avenue of youth sports. We must continue to teach and perfect the basics while having fun. Most children do not have the talent to play baseball or softball at the highest level. Very few will grow up to be professional athletes. Therefore, we must make it our goal to promote fun, physical activity, life skills, sportsmanship and good health.
- We should embrace and celebrate the diversity of our kids and communities in all that we do. We must continue to improve player retention and offer the necessary instruction and guidance for our kids to successfully reach their goals.
In summary, we understand that one can get caught up in the competition aspect of the sport. But, the first law of sports participation is that it is supposed to be a fun, rewarding and learning experience. We want our children to get the most from their Baseball and Softball experience. A happy, confident child can look forward to a rewarding and successful adulthood. Everything we as the Board, and hopefully everything that you do will support these goals and the mission statement of NPAA Baseball and Softball.
